Gratitude rewires your mind to be happier

July 8, 2019

Neuroscience has shown that practicing gratitude literally changes our neurochemistry and neurobiology by rewiring our neural pathways and changing our mood by releasing those "feel-good" hormones and neurotransmitters (including Serotonin, Dopamine and Oxytocin) which in turn influence our sense of happiness, well-being and even health (improvements in lifestyle). Gratitude literally alters the Central Nervous System and hormonal function to make us happier, healthier and more resilient, with a greater capacity for connection and 'joie de vivre' (a zest for life), resulting in us experiencing a more joyful and fulfilled life.

Research has shown that practicing gratitude significantly improves mood and sense of well-being, and interestingly it also promotes better lifestyle habits (such as more exercise). Studies also reveal greater resilience and an improved capacity for empathy, increased energy, better sleep and lower levels of anxiety and depression as well as  greater connection and a better sense of belonging have all been recorded as a result of practicing and expressing gratitude daily!
